2B Mom: Itzbeen Review + Giveaway

When Jude was born we subscribed to the on-demand baby tending method and while we had a pretty content baby I could not for the life of me tell you how often he did anything. I don't think I'm organized enough to keep everything written down in a notebook but I wish I had a way to at least know when I last fed the child.
ITZBEEN™ Baby Care Timer was developed by a new mom and dad who found themselves sleep-deprived and needing help to remember baby care details, such as when their baby last ate or napped. I really like that the Itzbeen is a simple one touch device that is easily attachable to your person. You simply press the button after you feed baby and it resets the time so you will know when you need to feed baby again. You can even set an alarm so you won't miss a feeding or even if baby needs medicine. It's also backlight which is great for late night feedings and has a built in flash light. Really, there are so many great features built into this tiny device it's pretty amazing. I can see it being very useful especially in the early months when I'm still learning baby's rhythms.
Buy: The Itzbeen Baby Care Timer is available for $24.99

Sunglass Replicas Review + Giveaway

I have many pairs of sunglasses but poor Joe doesn't have a single pair, that is until now. I picked out a fun pair of sunglasses inspired by Ray-Ban from Sunglass Replicas. Sunglass Replicas offers sunglasses for men and women that are inspired by popular designers. Most of the sunglasses are priced around $20 and include designs similar to Armani, Diesel, Juicy Couture, Versace and many more.

Joe is excited to have a pair of cheap sunglasses he can call his own. I think he looks rather handsome and cool! It was hard to decide which pair to get from their Sunglasses for Men selections. I was leaning toward a pair of Aviator Sunglasses but ultimately decided the throw back to the 80's was the best fit for Joe. I think I was right.

2BMom: Miracle Blanket Review + Giveaway

Sunday, January 30, 2011

I've always been baffled by swaddling. With Jude I never could get it right. It always seemed to loose or he seemed to be displeased with my wrapping techniques. He most certainly could have used some swaddling, I think it would have helped him transition from the womb. The Miracle Blanket is great because it is fairly simple to use and gives baby that safe and secure womb-like feeling.
To be honest, at first I was a little skeptical of the design. I thought it might be too difficult to figure out but once I got my hands on it I realized it was super easy. I can see how the Miracle Blanket would be great for newborns and young infants.

See how happy Barry the Bear is now!~
The Miracle Blanket is made from 100% high quality cotton  and there are no knots, buttons, straps, Velcro, snaps, or zippers. One size fits all. No adjustments - newborn to about four months. Stops or reduces fussiness. Helps baby sleep better, deeper and longer.

Buy: The Miracle Blanket is available online for $29.95.

2B Mom: Paperlicious Review + Giveaway

Friday, January 28, 2011

Whether it's your 1st or 10th baby there is always reason to send a Thank You card. I know we have many friends that will bless us with gifts, meals and their helping hands after we have baby #2. I hope to be prepared with Thank You cards on hand so when I have a little down time I can write a quick note to thank all that have blessed us so much.

Paperlicious has a beautiful collection of Baby Shower Thank You notes. I choose the adorable Baby Elephant Thank You Notes, even though they are blue I thought they could be used for a girl too. I mean elephants are just that cute even if they are blue. The package includes 12 flat panel cards and 12 pastel blue envelopes. There were so many cute choices I had a hard time choosing. Turbie Twist Review

Joe thinks it's amazing how I can wrap my hair in a towel after my shower. He thinks it's one of the many special powers that women have. I think he's silly. I'm not really sure when or where I learned to wrap my wet hair in a turban but it's just sort of second nature. (I really hate having wet hair on my back.)

Well, if for some reason you weren't blessed with hair wrapping towel powers there is a product for you, the Turbie Twist. The Turbie Twist is the Original Super Absorbent Twist and Loop hair towel that Stays in Place. The Turbie Twist makes it possible for even the least coordinated person to wrap their wet hair in a towel with the tapered design and easy loop on the back make the. By using the Turbie Twist you help cut down on hair drying time.

5 Reasons Why No One is Entering Your Giveaways

1. No One Knows About It
Outside of my regular followers, I get most of my blog traffic from Twitter. When I first started using twitter I only tweeted about my giveaways, which yielded fair results. But recently, I've been learning that although it may seem daunting, interacting with others on Twitter is much more effective. I also link up my giveaways on any giveaway linky I can find and post on my Facebook Fan Page. Get the word out there and slowly they will come.

2. Your Giveaway Sucks
I'll be frank, no one wants to enter your giveaway for hemorrhoid cream or the tacky $5 purse you got in the clearance bin. Give readers a reason to enter. I started this blog with a simple Target GC giveaway; you can't go wrong with Target. Also, you don't have to take every offer a company sends you to review and giveaway their product. I always ask myself, "Would I take the time to enter my own giveaways?"

3. The 3 Step Entry with 100 Rules
No one wants to write an essay to enter a blog giveaway, unless you are giving away a car or something else awesome. Make your giveaway entry options easy and clear. Nothing bothers me more than seeing a "giveaway" with no clear explanation as how to enter or a 3 step mandatory entry.

4. There is No Incentive
Let's say you have a decent product, a well-organize giveaway and you are working hard to promote it but entries are still low. Up the incentive. Give people more ways to enter, like bonus entries. Link several giveaways together so if a reader enters one giveaway they get additional entries in another. Work with other bloggers on a special giveaway event. Get creative. Just remember to keep it simple and clear.

5. Your Blog Design is Hideous
I hate to admit it but I'm much more prone to enter a giveaway on a well-designed blog than a poorly-designed one. Even if it's for the exact same product. Design doesn't have to be anything fancy but putting a little time and maybe even money into your design can pay off big time. Companies understand this when they design the packaging for their products. No one wants the oatmeal in the ugly,beat-up package, even if it's perfectly good oatmeal.

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert on blog giveaways. I have had my fair share of giveaways that bomb.

2BMom: Baby K'tan 3-in-1 Cloth Review + Giveway

I love versatility. Products that have more than one use are always a hit in my book. The Baby K'tan 3-in-1 Cloth is as versatile as they come. The K'tanCloth is a 3-IN-1 Nursing Cover, Burp Cloth & Blankie which attaches to any baby carrier, nursing tank, stroller and more!
One end of the cloth has a open pocket to catch messes the other end has velcro which allows you to attach it to most anything. I really love the velcro attachment because you can connect it to yourself and use it as a nursing cover or attach it to a stroller or carseat to ensure you won't lose baby's blanket.

Undercover Mama Review + Giveaway

Thursday, January 27, 2011

I have a hard time justifying purchasing a nursing shirt. I mean I shouldn't have to purchase a whole new wardrobe just to nurse my baby. Nursing bras, yes those are a good investment and nursing tanks are OK but the straps get a little out of control. That is why I like Undercover Mama, it turns any shirt into a nursing shirt.
It's pretty straight forward. If you own a standard nursing bra and you can modestly breastfeed while wearing any shirt. I did find that if you have an unconventional style bra (I have a few with hook and eye connections for the nursing flap) it is a little more difficult to attach. However, the design of the attaching hook is designed so you can attach it to your bra strap if needed. Undercover Mama suggests getting a snug fit so stays up and is comfortable all the way around your body.
Buy: Undercover Mama is available online or at select retailers. ARV $24.99

KidFresh Meals Review + Giveaway

It's no secret that getting kids to eat their vegetables can be a challenge. Luckily, Jude will eat a few select vegetables willingly and almost enthusiastically. However, there are myriad of vegetables he won't even look at. So I do my best to cleverly incorporate them into our meals hoping he might accidentally digest one or two.
KidFresh has done one better. They do a masterful job of hiding vegetables in every single one of their meals. So good in fact, that I didn't even realize what vegetables were in any of the meals until I looked it up. Jude tried the Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese and completely devoured the meal. He had no idea that hidden in the cheese sauce was mashed up carrots. (A food he usually avoids.)

Jude gives it a Big Thumbs Up!

Kidfresh meals are prepared with hidden veggies, providing up to 33% of a child’s daily needs. They offer 6 delicious meal varieties I'm sure any kid will love: Totally Twisted Pasta and Meatballs, Rainbow Rice and Chicken, Easy Cheesy Ravioli, Spaghetti Loops Bolognese, Muy Cheesy Quesadillas, and Wagon Wheels Mac + Cheese.
KidFresh meals can be prepared in the microwave or conventional oven. We don't own a microwave so I really like that I can make them in the oven. Obviously, it takes a little longer in the oven but they are still just as delicious.

BabyBeat Fetal Doppler Review + Giveaway

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

One of my favorite parts of early pregnancy is the first time I get to hear the baby's heart beat. It's a nice confirmation that everything is developing properly and your tiny baby has life. Most of the time you have to wait for a visit with your doctor or midwife to hear that beautiful sound. But with BabyBeat you can rent a Fetal Doppler.

The BabyBeat Fetal Doppler with Display and Recorder (Model BB250A) like we received is simple to use and allows you to hear the heartbeat, view the heart rate and even record it to your computer.  Just take a look for yourself. Here, Joe is using the fetal doppler to listen to Baby #2 at 22 weeks old.
You can rent or purchase the BabyBeat Fetal Dopplers online. The Model BB250A rental prices are $49/mo (month by month), $44/mo (prepaid 3mo rental), $39/mo (prepaid 6 mo rental).

7 Confessions of a Product Review Blogger

1. I started my product review blog to get free stuff.
After I had Jude we decided it was best if I stayed at home to take care of him. Going from a double income home to single was tough. I started entering giveaways because we couldn't afford to buy anything other than essentials. I thought it would be a cinch to start my own blog and do the reviews and giveaways myself. Boy, was I in for a surprise. I'm on my 2nd year with this blog and am working as hard if not harder than I was when I started.

2. I have no idea what I'm doing.
Everything about The B Keeps Us Honest has come about through trial and error. From the design and SEO to my pitches and ad pricing. I've learned it all through research and trying it myself. I'm still tweaking and learning what makes a good blog so I don't think I'll ever really know exactly what I'm doing.

3. I stalk other product review blogs.
Stalking might be a harsh word but I like to know what is going on in the blog world. Knowing what kind of products others are reviewing, the way they run their giveaways, the networks they join are all ways I stay in tune with readers.

4. If a company treats me well I am more likely to buy their product.
Of course, the product has to be decent too. When I work first hand with representatives from companies it gives me more pros and cons as to whether I should buy their product. If they treat me with respect and have an awesome product I am going to talk up their product as much as possible. Likewise, if a company has an awesome product and treats me like scum I will not be buying anything from them anytime soon.

5. I was excited when I became pregnant because of all the review opportunities it opened to me.
True story, before I became pregnant with #2 I started a Baby List, a list of products I wanted to review when I had another child. Some products I could justify because I  had a toddler and he was still able to use them, but for others I just had to wait. When I became pregnant with #2 my mind went immediately (well, after the shock wore off) to all the great things I could do on my blog now.

6. I stalk my own blog.
I love to see how many people have entered certain giveaways. What posts are most popular. What products people like. How many new followers I have. Etc... I probably visit my own blog at least 20 times a day.

7. When I really need something I look into reviewing it before I look into buying it.
Like I mentioned in confession #1 we don't have a lot of money so when we have need for something I try my hardest to get it free for review. I'm not one to ask for handouts but I will work in exchange for the product. That is how people did things back in the day, trading goods and services. It apparently still works pretty well today.

2BMom: Sound Beginnings Review + Giveaway

In the picture above you may notice the Sound Beginnings device on my pregnant belly and that I am listening along with baby. But what you may not notices is the wall of CD's, although antiquated, that belong to me and my husband. Needless to say we like music, a lot. So when I was given the opportunity to review the Sound Beginnings device I was excited.

When I was pregnant with Jude I would often play music to my belly and I could feel him dance along. Just today as I was wearing my Sound Beginnings device I felt baby 2 dance and move to Morrissey and it made me smile. I honestly don't know how often I would use the Sound Beginnings but I think I would use it will working out. I mean the little pocket is nice for holding my mp3 player.
Sound Beginnings is a revolutionary device that allows parents to play sound comfortably and safely for the unborn child. The Sound Delivery service, to be used in conjunction with the Sound Beginnings device, allows family members to record messages which are converted to MP3 files for easy download. No matter how far away family members might be, they form a connection through sound with the baby.

I love the Wilbur the Turtle Onesie from the Colette Line it is perfect for either a boy or girl. The design is simple and adorable all at the same time. 2B Mom: Baby Bond Nursing Cover Review + Giveaway

One of the benefits of breastfeeding your baby is the bonding that takes place. Your baby can look up and see your face and knows that you are the one providing them with the awesome meal in which they are partaking. Most breastfeeding covers involve covering the baby's head in addition to your breast. This can be difficult if you are new to breastfeeding and need to watch for a good latch. It also doesn't seem to be ideal for the baby, who wants to eat lunch under a blanket?

I really love the Baby Bond nursing cover. It allows you to nurse discreetly without covering baby's head. I received the Couture cover which allows you to nurse from the top of your shirt, or the bottom. I really like the versatility of the Couture Baby Bond it works like a sash and like a belly band. The Baby Bond also comes in Original, which is a simple sash that allows you to nurse from the top of your shirt and has an attached burp cloth. The Flex cover is similar to the Original except the burp cloth is detachable. All Baby Bonds are simple to store in your diaper bag, they roll up and have a self containing pouch.

Buy: The Baby Bond is available for $35 online and at select retailers.
