Snow Day Pt. 1

Saturday, January 30, 2010

So it actually snowed. Low and behold the weathermen got something right. We got our bank issue worked out and were able to go to the store last night before the snow started. Joe is at work all day but he said the roads weren't too bad.

Jude and I went out for a bit.

JUST SAY NO to SNOW

Friday, January 29, 2010

The news is predicting snow for tonight and tomorrow. Typically they make a big fuss and then nothing exciting happens but everyone gets all crazy when in actuality nothing will probably happen.

However, I'm hoping that is DOES NOT snow. Yes, snow is pretty but other than that I would prefer for it to stay away. Here are my reasons in no particular order.

1. Joe has to work ALL DAY Saturday regardless of the weather. So he'll be at work, I'll be home stuck inside all day with a busy toddler.

2. We have no food. I know all the crazy people attacked the grocery stores to buy crap they don't need but I was not one of them. Well that's not true. I did attempt to go to the grocery store for our bi-weekly regularly schedule grocery trip but could not pay for our food. BECAUSE our bank decided to put a hold on our account without telling us because of suspicious activity. So after I did all of my shopping and checkout with a worn out toddler I left empty handed. That was fun!

3. Snow is Cold. I don't like being cold. That's all.

4. Because said snow is cold we can't make our daily trip to the park. A much needed afternoon trip to the park for Jude to burn off some of his energy.  So now we'll be stuck in our tiny townhouse going crazy.

5. It's Saturday tomorrow. I had plans to party and go out with people and friends and family and do fun things that don't usually happen during the week.

With all that said... I really, really, really hope it doesn't snow.  I may even fast so that is doesn't snow... not totally because I want to but because I'll have to ration our food.

Free Samples and Win a Year Supply of Pampers Cruisers

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Babies are some of the best players in the world.

Did you know that a cruising baby in one day can take as many steps as a marathon runner in a race?

Did you know a nine-month old baby can crawl up to 400 meters in 20 minutes?

Vancouver 2010 Olympics

Every baby is a champion in play, and to celebrate the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Pampers® Diapers has partnered with Team USA to introduce new Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max, the brand's new high performance diapers sure to earn gold with world-class "players" - babies.

The babies of Team USA athletes will be equipped with the new Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max as they head to Vancouver. In honor of these athletes and their families, Pampers has created specially-branded Team USA diapers with the Dry Max technology. Although these limited-edition Team USA diapers will not be for sale, parents all across the country can buy Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max for their best players in the world in March. In the meantime, parents can request a free sample three-pack of the new Cruisers diaper on Pampers.com starting January 29th. If this sample includes a Team USA diaper (they will be randomly inserted in select sample packs), their baby will win a year's supply of Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max.

To bring to life the incredible passion, endurance and ability babies demonstrate daily in the sport of play, Pampers Diapers has directly teamed with two world-class athlete families who are among the first to receive the special-edition Team USA diapers: Olympic gold medal speedskater Chad Hedrick and his family, and skeleton (forward-facing luge) World Champion and Olympic Hopeful Noelle Pikus-Pace and her family. These athlete families will be sharing their Vancouver experiences from their babies' point of view throughout the Olympic Winter Games via photos and videos on Pampers.com.

Your TV Debut

It’s this active play that continually inspires the Pampers brand, and that’s why moms and dads are encouraged to log on to Pampers.com to join in celebrating the development of their own best players. Parents will have the ability to upload a video of their baby crawling from left to right, and randomly selected videos will be compiled into a Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max “Baby Relay” commercial which will air during closing day of the Olympic Winter Games, giving babies a chance to showcase their own playful ability in the same forum as the most elite athletes.

About NEW Pampers Diapers
Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers with Dry Max are the brand's new high performance diapers and the biggest innovation for the Pampers brand in the last 25 years. Pampers Diapers invented the Dry Max technology and applied it to the current Swaddlers and Cruisers core, which allows the diaper to be thinner than before. This game-changing diaper - Pampers' driest ever - helps lock wetness in for up to 12 hours and its less bulky design helps give flexibility and comfort - perfect for all of babies' play. The new diaper design also helps families reduce their impact on the environment by containing 10 percent less material weight.

FREE: Starting tomorrow (1/29) you can request a free sample 3-pack of the new Cruisers diapers from Pampers.com. Be sure to check your sample  pack to see if it includes a Team USA diaper you will win a year’s supply of Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max.

The featured product was provided to me free of charge by Pampers. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and not influenced by the company.

B Mine: Vat 19 TelePen Review

My husband loves James Bond. In fact, a few years ago I threw him a 007 birthday party which involved a scavenger hunt and a full day of watching Bond movies with friends. A little part of him wants to be a spy so I thought the TelePen would be the perfect gift for him. Not only is it a spy worthy tool it's actually something he can use at work. His job involves computers and servers and running around fixing things so it's convenient to have a pen on his keychain.

The Telepen Telescoping Keychain Pen is compact and lightweight so you'll barely notice it on your keychain. The pen measures only 2" when collapsed but extends to 4.625". It comes with 3 ink refills and a 1 year warranty. Watch this video to learn more about the TelePen:

NatruOli Soap Nuts Review

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Even before I became a mom I was very aware of the chemicals we use to wash our clothes. I used natural cleaning soap but never gave much thought or research into the products I was using. However, when I discovered NaturOli Soap Nuts I was intrigued by such an amazing gift from nature.

I used the Soap Nuts as instructed and found that did an excellent job cleaning my clothes. I really wasn't sure how they would work but after learning more about them and trying them myself I'm excited to share this great 100% natural product with everyone.

I particularly love that you can reuse a handful of nuts for 5 or more loads and then compost them! The soap nuts come with a reusable cotton bag which you use to place the nuts in and then throw in the washer to keeping them together. If you are doing several loads in a row you can leave the bag in the washer until they are no longer good. Soap Nuts are also very safe for even the most sensitive skin with no dyes, perfumes, or harsh chemicals. Not only are NaturOli Soap Nuts great for your skin and the environment they are also easy on your wallet, averaging around $0.07 per load.

You can use Soap Nuts for more than just laundry. Simply boil them in water to create an  all-purpose cleaner, hand soap, produce wash, toothpaste, shampoo and even used them in your dishwasher.

About NaturOli Soap Nuts

NaturOli Soap Nuts are truly amazing product of nature, a 100% natural laundry detergent. They are a very effective cleaning agent with NO chemicals, toxins or artificial perfumes. This pure natural detergent simply leaves your laundry amazingly clean and wonderfully fresh. Soap nuts are the dried fruit of the Chinese Soapberry tree. They contain saponin, a natural cleaner. They are simply harvested, de-seeded, and then dried in the sun. It is biodegradable, hypo-allergenic, brightens colors, low sudsing, and contains a natural fabric softener.

To learn even more about Soap Nuts visit Soap Nuts Pro.

Buy: Purchase a variety of Soap Nut products online.

The featured product was provided to me free of charge by NaturOli. The opinions expressed in this review are my own and not influenced by the company.

Confession

Monday, January 25, 2010

It's true.. I went to the gym this morning with my yoga pants on inside out.

I noticed in the car but didn't want to turn around just to fix my pants. So I proceeded to the Y, check Jude into the nursery, got a locker and then flipped my pants right side out.

You'd think I would have been a little less grogy this morning since I got a full, uninterrupted night's sleep last night. (Unlike the past week where Jude has woke up at least once during the night.) But I guess I was in a daze from all the extra sleep and just didn't notice.

In other news, Joe passed his 1st test for his Microsoft certification. WOOHOO!

Kids Exchange Day 1

Last night I decided to that I would try going to the Kids Exchange this morning... with Jude. I had a few things in mind and a very tight budget. I brought $20 cash and wanted to look for diaper covers, mom books and toys. I spent a little more time than I wanted but less money so I guess we'll call it even. I didn't find any great deals on diaper covers but that was sort of a long shot to begin with. However, I did get 2 great breastfeeding books, Little People Noah's Ark Set and a Luke Skywalker action figure for toddlers.

I'm still debating as to weather or not I will go back for 1/2 price day on Sunday.

January Spring

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

The past few days have yielded unseasonably gorgeous weather. You might mistakenly think it's spring, unless you're Andrea. Nevertheless, we have been enjoying this brief stint of nice weather to the best of our abilities and that includes many walks to our beloved neighborhood park.

Jude knows the route well. In fact, the other day I decided to take a detour and passed the road the park was on and when I didn't turn right Jude noticed and started fussing and pointing in the direction of the park. By far his favorite thing at the park are the swings. He runs to them yelling, "wee! wee!" and continues to yell, "wee! wee!" well into the swinging. I'd have to say his second favorite thing about the park would be the other children... he loves watching them and chasing them around. He also likes the buses, trucks and motorcycles that drive by.

The Greatest Gift You've Given

Sunday, January 17, 2010

When Joe and I were dating I always told him he was "my favorite". So on our wedding day when we exchanged gifts with each other and I gave him an iPod loaded with his favorite songs and the engraving, "My Favorite: 9.15.07(our wedding date!)". It was a great gift because he loves music, he could use it for our long honeymoon flight to England and the engraving has special meaning. I had several people tell me that in 20 years when iPods are obsolete it would be nothing more than a fancy paperweight but at the time it was perfect.

So before the start of the B Mine Valentine's Day gift guide I want to know...

What is the best gift you've ever given to your significant other?

It can be for any occasion, any size, price or purpose. Did he cry? Did his jaw drop? Was it a total surprise?

Blogger of the Week: Chrissy MacCEO

This week's featured blogger is Chrissy of Chrissy MacCEO

How old is your blog or long have you been blogging?  I started my blog in November 2008 but I did  not start blogging on a regular basis until March of 2009.

What made you choose the name of your blog?  I was feeling a little uneasy about my upcoming 10-year high school reunion, and was telling my mother-in-law about my insecurities.  I knew that the job I had, being a stay at home mom, was extremely important and meaningful, but I was afraid that since most of my high school class wasn’t even married yet, that they would not relate to me or that they’d think I didn’t make much with my life.  My mother-in-law reminded me about all of the tasks I do on a daily basis, aside from just raising kids.  She told me that I was, in fact, the CEO of my household.  My blog was named after this realization, and I write about my life as a wife, mom, blogger and everything in between.

Why do you blog and what do you love about blogging?  I started blogging as a way to let off steam.  Typing has always been relaxing for me, and writing is something I have a deep love for.  I thought combining the two could become a hobby.  If anything, I could give myself a good laugh at the end of the day, even if it was at my own expense.  Blogging has become so much more for me, though. It’s very therapeutic to write honestly about the ups and downs of life and have my followers read my thoughts and not only understand them, but share their stories with me so that I know I am not alone.

What are a few of your favorite posts on your blog? (include the direct URL links)
http://www.lifeasaceo.com/2009/10/confessions-from-playground.html “Confessions from a Playground” – my personal favorite

Are you married?  If so, how long?  Yes, I will be married to “DaddyMac” 7 years this March.

Do you have children?  If so, how many? I have two children.  My son, “Buckaroo,” is 5 ½, and my daughter, “Miss Mac,” turns 3 at the end of January.

What is your favorite movie?  My husband makes such fun of me when I see a movie on the Guide on TV because I always say, “that’s one of my favorite movies!”  He always laughs and says, “Really?  How many do you have?”  I really love so many, so I’ll have to give you my top 5:  The American President, Legally Blonde, The Notebook, The Devil Wears Prada, and Old School.

Who is your favorite actor?  Again, there are so many that I love.  But my favorites are Reese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet, and Will Ferrell.

What is your favorite band or musician?  BON JOVI is my all-time favorite (& I am going to see him on tour in May!), but I also love tons of country singers.

What is your favorite food?  Real good pizza.

What is your favorite candy?  York Peppermint Patties—I love the mini ones!  They are only 1 point each on Weight Watchers.  Sometimes I put them in the freezer & they last longer when they melt in your mouth.

What else should readers know about you?  I think about becoming a comedian often.  It’s not that I think I am funny, although I do know how to laugh and I know I’d personally provide myself with great material on a daily basis!  But I think that most of all, I want to do stand-up for the rush of performing.  I was a dancer for a very long time, and enjoyed the spotlight.  If you think about it, in lots of ways blogging fills this desire to “perform”—my thoughts are my choreography, my posts are my performances, and my readers are my audience.  But there’s something to be said about the rush you get from a live performance.  Maybe I just need to start vlogging!

Chia Goodness Review

Friday, January 15, 2010

Chia Goodness is a new concept in breakfast cereal. The ingredients are completely raw. There are many great ways to enjoy Chia Goodness cold or hot. Mix in either milk or water, wait a few minutes and enjoy a delicious breakfast as comforting as Oatmeal.

“Chia is among the most nourishing, energy-giving, endurance-sustaining foods ever discovered,” says holistic pharmacist Sherry Torkos, B. Sc. Phm.  “Chia Goodness makes it easy for anyone to access chia’s many benefits.”

Chia Goodness offers 3 different flavors:

Original - Customize it by adding yogurt or your favorite fruit.

Cranberry Ginger - my favorite.

Apple Almond Cinnamon

Chia Goodness is a great source of calcium, Omega 3 and dietary fiber.

I was a little apprehensive after first inspecting Chia Goodness but after playing around with the different methods of preparation I learn that it is quite delicious mixed in with yogurt and topped with a Strawberry! For years I've struggled to find a quick yet health breakfast often resulting in skipping breakfast all together. But we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Buy: Chic Goodness can be purchased online or at various retailers throughout the US and Canada.'
