Loud enthusiastic grunts coming from the living room =

I often leave Jude to play on the living room floor as I wash dishes, do laundry or check my email, periodically peering around the corner to check on him. Occasionally I hear a strange noise or even worse, nothing at all, this inevitably means he's into something he should not be into.
Saturday Jude discovered that the metal support on the TV Stand is removable. Fortunately, our TV is rather light and I don't think the support is all that important, nevertheless IKEA probably included it in the design for a reason.
I'll just put this back....

Finger Food are our new friend. Just this week Jude has discovered puffs. He like cheerios but he loves these puffs I found on sale at Kroger. He can get one in his mouth about every 4th puff attempt, generally they get stuck inside his hand or he just drops them.
Not to be confused with Duffman

So for a few months Jude has had a reoccurring light rash. After many failed attempts to change his soap and other possible irritants I think I have it narrowed down.
Yesterday I applied California Baby Super Sensitive Lotion to his back and only a few hours later he had an angry red rash all over his back and on a thumb print sized spots on his stomach. Who would have thought that a Super Sensitive Lotion would cause such havoc. I think the culprit might be coconut. Coconut allergies are very rare so it is possible there is some other irritant. So last night I gave Jude a bath and didn't use any soap or lotion and his rash is almost gone this morning.
What to do?

So we're on the brink of a major milestone in Jude's life. He is sooooo close to crawling. Right now he can pretty much roll or scoot where ever he wants to go. He can also pull up to standing from sitting but he's still working on sitting from laying. Trust me, he's working very hard on that one. I think he has a baby six pack from all his baby crunches. So far he can get up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth, then he tries to move his hands but hasn't got the moving the knees part down yet.
So Joe and I are working dilegently to baby proof the house.

I'm pretty certain he'll be crawling before the end of April. So watch out world baby Jude is on the move!

Jude has two lovely little bottom teeth. He loves using them to bite things... mostly food but he will try to bit your face. I like to think he's giving kisses but I think he's really trying to eat my face. I bought him some Earth's Best Barley Teething Biscuits, which he loves because he can hold it and eat it like a cookie. I haven't tried them but they smell like Graham Crackers.

Jude loves this spring weather, sitting outside with his daddy and trying to drink his beer... root beer that is!

During the early winter I complete my first pair of longies for Jude. Just now he's able to fit into them so here is a cute picture of him wearing them. Hopefully he can wear them more before he gets too big for them. They're so darn cute.
Conversation with Joe...
I think I'm starting to realize things are getting serious here....

So I went back through Gmail today and found a few Gchat conversations I had during my early stages of labor... before I was convinced I was in actual labor.

So today I was reading an online forum and I saw the name Jonas and thought to myself... that's kind of a cool name. Maybe I should add it to my list of names to consider in the future. Then I decided to look up what it meant.... and I immediately knew it wasn't for us. The meaning is fine, it means Dove, but when googled it yielded a crap load of Jonas Brothers stuff. Enough said.
The only famous reference I could originally thing of was the Weezer song. I guess we shouldn't consider anymore song titles for names anyway.
So that led me to the SSN site to see where Jude ranks in US popularity. It's nice to be somewhere in the middle I think.

Where do your childrens name rank?

Today we submitted 3 pictures of Jude enjoying solid foods into the Whole Foods Baby's Favorite Food Contest.
Jude loves food... he likes feeding himself although when he uses the spoon (which he enjoys doing) he usually puts the wrong end in his mouth.
Before our first date we knew it was meant to be... we were both nerdy Morrissey fans. So this past weekend Joe and I made a trip to Myrtle Beach to see Morrissey at the House of Blues. It was a good show although it was short most likely due to Morrissey's current illness. Assuming he is feeling better we plan on seeing him again tomorrow night at the DPAC!
Something Old
Something New

Jude is now 8 months old and I guess I just kind of assumed that 8 month old babies slept through the night... haha little did I know some babies don't "sleep through the night" until they are almost 2 years old. And "sleeping through the night" simply means baby sleeps 5 straight hours.
I think his sleep patterns are pretty close to normal, although I wish it was longer overall I think we have it pretty good. Most nights he "sleeps through the night" and then some. He naps wonderfully, 2 naps a day usually ranging between 1-2 hours each. He sleeps most of the time in his crib, in his room but at some point during the night he ends up in the bed with us. We don't mind unless I fall asleep on my arm like I did last night.
I've been reading, The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley and I think it's a must read for all moms or moms-to-be. I think we've made great success within the past week already!
It's amazing how a little more sleep can positively effect your attitude during the day. It's also amazing how beautiful weather effects my attitude.
Sleep on baby Jude, Sleep on!
I know, I know... I've been meaning to update this blog with all the exciting events of our life but with Joe's new venture into professional blogging my blogging time has been limited. Plus I'm just to lazy to upload pictures and I think blogs without pictures are kind of boring... unless they contain some juicy gossip!
Let's start with Valentines Day. Joe and I took Jude for a walk to the Peace Street Pharmacy and Soda fountain where we ate grilled cheese and milkshakes. Then Joe slaved away in the kitchen for 4+ hours making me a delicious Cuban dinner. Papa Rellenas, beans and rice. Then he gave me 4 bags of red hot hearts... my fav!
