Noah Asher Month 8

Friday, February 24, 2012

I'm a little behind on Noah's 8 month update because we were out of town this past weekend. We spent a few days at the beach and it was awesome.
So here is what's up with Mr. Noah.
Weight: 24lbs
Sleep: 8 hours at night
Naps: 1 morning/ 1 afternoon
Food: Mostly breastfeed. Eats about every 2-3 hours during the day. He's a quick eater, usually about 15 min max then he's done. We've been trying solid foods on and off for a few weeks and he's just now getting interested. He is mostly exploring texture and flavor so only eats about half a jar a day. But he really enjoys the process.

On-The-Go: Noah is on the go. In the past month he's gone from rolling all over the place to scooting. He can get up on his hands and knees but isn't sure what to do when he gets there. Occasionally, he will get stuck on his hands and knees and start crying. It's the saddest, cutest thing ever. He is also trying very hard to sit up. He can get to a half sit/leaning pose which I call his model pose and if the wind is just right he can sit up.

Communication: I have no idea where he learned it because I didn't intentionally teach him but Noah knows a bit of sign language. When he's hungry he signs milk and then points to his mouth. It's adorable and very helpful. I sign it back to him so he knows I understand what he wants.

Personality: Noah is a very peaceful child. Of course he has his moments of being a baby but overall he's very chill. If he likes someone he does this cute head tilt flirt thing and reaches his hand out as to say, "You are awesome!" He's also very grabby. I can no longer hold him while I am doing anything or else he wants to participate.

Brothers: Jude is a good big brother to Noah. He rarely gets jealous of the time I spend with Noah or the toys he plays with. He does on occasion get a little too rough when he plays with Noah but I can already tell these boys are going to love wrestling. Noah of course thinks anything Jude does is hilarious.

First Years GumDrop Bottles

Noah is still primarily breastfed but when I'm away for a date night with Joe or a girls night out he will take the occasional bottle. Now that Noah is old he like to hold is own bottle so a slimmer bottle design is a must.
The First Years' GumDrop line is known for it's one-piece contoured pacifiers designed and a nipple shape that babies love. Now, The First Years is offering a bottle with the same nipple design as their popular pacifier. The 100% silicone nipple has a narrow bottle design which is perfect for older infants to grasp and hold.
Although Noah doesn't use a pacifier he does like the shape of the GumDrop nipple and that he can easily get his little hands around the bottle.
I like that the GumDrop Slim Bottles come in fun designs and that they are BPA free and Latex free. They are also available in 4oz and 8oz sizes.

Toy Story Showtime Disney App Review

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Jude has his own folder for games on my iPhone. Playing a game on mama's phone is a very special treat. I usually reserve iPhone time for when it's most needed. A long wait at a restaurant, a long car drive, or if I need him to just sit still for any length of time.
Disney Publishing Worldwide offers the largest selection of children's books and magazines. They are currently topping the App Store charts with their six new releases on of which is Toy Story Showtime! (MSRP $4.99) Toy Story Showtime! is a storybook app designed to help children explore reading concepts.
Jude is a big fan of Toy Story so is a great way to teach him reading skills in a fun way. He likes that he can touch the different characters throughout the story and say or do different things. I like that it tells a story at the reader's own pace. Jude can linger on one page exploring new words or actions. The app also teaches children new words, provides the definition and use of the word. It a very interactive story book that keeps Jude entertained while he learns.

The Toy Story Showtime! app, along with all other Disney Publishing Worldwide apps are available at the App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

4am with my baby

like clockwork I awake right before he cries
Joe brings him to me and lays him beside me
he rolls over and latches on without opening his eyes
I curl my body around him, protecting him
he wraps his arm around my breast, protecting his food
we both relax
he reaches his hand up to the sprouts of hair atop his head
his little fingers rub his hair
his feet touch my thigh
he begins to trace small circles with his foot upon my leg
the rhythm of his sucking begins to slow
then become sporadic
he's asleep
I should be asleep too
I'm so very tired
but these moments are so precious
I lay there half awake trying to soak it up
the 4 am meeting with my baby

A Baby Shower with Baby Brezza

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Last Saturday we attended a baby shower for our friends, Bliss and Thurston. They are expecting a sweet baby girl in a few months. It was a lovely baby shower with tons of food, beautiful hand-crafted decorations and most importantly friends and family gathered to bless the new family.

Baby Brezza gave me the opportunity to bless Bliss and Thurston with the One Step Baby Food Maker. I'm actually a little jealous of them because it looks like such an awesome baby food maker. I want one so now so I can make baby food for Noah.
The Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker allows parents to create fresh homemade baby food in a matter of minutes. When you make your own baby food you know for sure what ingredients are in the purees and you can make unique recipes that aren't available in canned baby foods. Like this asparagus and broccoli puree or this zucchini, tomato, avocado and basil puree. YUM!

I hope Bliss, Thurston and Baby Girl love the Baby Brezza cause if they don't use it I may have to come steal it. hehe... just kidding... only a little.

I received the feature product to give as a baby shower gift from Baby Brezza. However, the opinions expressed in this post are my own and not influenced by the company.
