BJ's Wholesale Club $25 Gift Card Review + Giveaway

I've never been to a wholesale club by myself. I've been with my mother and co-workers but I've never bought a membership of my own. To be honest the whole thing kind of intimidates me. You have to get an I.D. card with your picture on it, some stores only take certain credit cards and the shear size is a little overwhelming. But when I was offered the opportunity to try out BJ's Wholesale Club I thought I put on my brave face and give it a go. 


Joe, Jude and I venture to BJ's around 7 PM and the store wasn't super busy which was nice for us first-timers. The card attended directed us to customer service where we were issued our Free 60-day pass. Then we roamed a bit, a lot actually. At 8:45 they made the announcement that the store would be closing soon and we didn't have anything in our cart. Jude had been well entertain in the car cart so we just got lost in all there was to see. After some discussion we decided to splurge instead of buying bulk dry goods to add to our stock pile. We indulged ourselves and bought a 24 count box of Klondike Bars, a 19.6 oz round of Brie and a 2lb bag of dark chocolate covered pomegranate. Yum, yum and yum! We didn't use any coupons but we did only spend $24.30. 

I will say that while some of the bulk items are reasonably priced I can generally get them for cheaper or as cheap during triples at the Harris Teeter. However, if you can't wait till triples or the grocery stores in your area isn't as competitive I would suggest stocking up at BJs. By the end of our visit I was already more comfortable with the idea of shopping at a wholesale club. I particularly like that BJ's takes all manufactures coupons and all standard forms of payment (all major credit cards, check and cash). We buy a lot of organic products and it was nice to see that BJ's caters to the organic crowd. Overall, I would recommend getting a BJ's membership if you're thinking about joining a wholesale club.

Swept Away

As the mother of a 17 month old I'm amazed at how often I sweep the floor. I probably shouldn't be so surprised since many mothers have previously been through the toddler phase of parenting. But the amount of crumbs and bits of things that fall to the floor still astonishes me.


I generally sweep the floor at least once a day, sometimes more. How often do most mothers sweep? Is this standard? I might need to invest in a hard wood floor vacuum.


Luckily I think someone is taking an interest in my recent hobby.
